16.21 Morning lobby call at 07.30 with Curt & to Trinity for morning sitting. Group meeting with the Seattle Guitar Circle for approx 2 hours, addressing a more subtle approach to guitar playing than has been presented to date within Guitar Craft. A Processional along the corridor, which brought out various persons working in the Trinity offices, and personal meetings. Several of the Team have very basic concerns re: the right hand, and I remembered why I stopped doing hands-on work with right hands several years ago. But, there we were & there we are.
At 13.00 John arrived to set up the Solar Voyager 1.3…
John has built in several mods since last we worked with this rig: an Axon synth for testing & a new bottom module with wheels & a drawer. Unfortunately there was a fault – the left side of the rig was missing - which took John an hour to find.

Solar Voyager Restored…
Then, firing up & testing. I don’t remember the moves, nor where all the programmes are, plus there’s a new synth. But it works sufficiently well and, if I don’t know the route to where I’m going, we may find some new places to visit along the way.
While the soundcheck was underway, Bill the Director had a Slow Music meeting in a stairwell with John & Brian, then returned me to the hotel.

23.07 Tool Rules! Yow!
Soundscapes at Trinity: an exceptionally supportive audience, almost as if 80% of the audience were Four Quarters’ Maintainers. No idea what the music was like, nor its effect. But there was no applause, which I take as the finest response an audience has to offer.
Once again, before walking on, the question: what on earth shall I play? The certainty: it is impossible to play music. This is the bad news. It is possible to be played by music. This is the good news. So, the aim is to walk on & hold oneself in place during the activity of playing music; that this might musical activity might become a musical action; that the musical action might become a musical act - the act of music, within which music, musician & audience become one person. That’s the aim. The everyday, terrifying prospect in front of the working player.
Then to the Paramount with Bill the Director for the last 25 minutes of Tool The Monster Beast Of Terror. Superb. Strong sound which came with clarity as well; great visuals. Nowadays I don’t hear much rock music that makes me want to strap on a guitar and rock out, but this was it.
Met Adam, Danny & Justin afterwards to catch up & was given my new Tool album - it wasn’t released on Sunday when I went to buy it in the nearby Tower (where I bought the new Satch CD). A fabbo & fun cover. We’ll next meet up in London, mid-June, when the Toolers arrive to demolish Hammersmith & its environs.
Now, moderately dribbling.
